Why do humans hate each other?
That’s a deep question. Humans don’t naturally hate each other—hate is often learned or triggered by fear, ignorance, pain, or a need for control. Things like differences in race, religion, class, or beliefs can spark conflict when people feel threatened or misunderstood. Trauma, social conditioning, and lack of empathy also play big roles.
But the flip side is just as true—humans are also capable of immense love, compassion, and unity. Hate tends to be louder, but it’s not stronger.
What does the God say about hate?
✨ 1. God Is Love — and Love Is the Standard
“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
— 1 John 4:8
If we truly walk with God, we’re called to love—because love is God’s very essence.
✨ 2. Hating Others Equals Walking in Darkness
“But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness… and does not know where they are going.”
— 1 John 2:9-11
Hate clouds judgment, causes confusion, and distances us from God’s light.
✨ 3. Love Your Enemies
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44
This is one of the hardest calls—but it’s where the real power lies. Radical love is what transforms the world.
✨ 4. Let Love Overcome Evil
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
— Romans 12:21
We’re not called to mirror hate—we’re called to rise above it. That’s where our strength and favor come from.
✨ 5. God Hates Evil, Not People
God doesn’t hate people—He hates evil actions like injustice, lies, pride, and cruelty:
“There are six things the Lord hates… haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood…”
— Proverbs 6:16-19
God’s hate is righteous—it’s aimed at sin, not the sinner. And it’s always rooted in a desire to restore, not destroy.
If you’re walking through a season of heartbreak from witnessing hate and division, it’s okay to grieve it. But know that God placed His love, His spirit, and His purpose inside you—to be a light in the darkness.
